Grip tape is a tape that increases friction between various objects. It can be applied to the surface of any object to increase friction, prevent slipping, reduce the number of slip accidents and improve safety.

Grip tape is more than just sandpaper, this tape consists of 4 main materials: The Grit,Base material, Base rubber and Lining paper.

The Grit

The top layer is a grit, most commonly silicon carbide or aluminium oxide, which can be classified as 40 grit, 60 grit or 80 grit depending on the amount of grit.

The Base material

Usually grip tape is made from a base material of polyvinyl chloride or polyethylene terephthalate. An acrylic oil adhesive is applied to a full sheet of PET or PVC film and the abrasive mineral silicon carbide is then evenly applied to the film.

Lining paper

A thick backing paper is applied to the underlying acrylic putty to ensure that the adhesive backing of the tape does not come into contact with other materials until it has been used.

Cutting

Cut a full sheet of grip tape into rolls or sheets of small pieces, or you can customise the tape in different sizes to suit the object to be adhered.

Where can you use grip tape?

The tape can be used on skateboards, sailing decks, surfboards, balance bikes, unicycles and electric bikes. We also use grip tape on stairs, corridors, bathrooms or swimming pools where it is easy to slip.

How do I clean the skateboard anti-slip tape?

- Clean the surface of the tape once with a broom, cleaning duster or hoover.

- When the anti-slip tape becomes dirty you can simply clean it with warm soapy water and a sponge. However, if the non-slip tape only needs cleaning from dust or grit, you can simply wipe it with a brush.

- If you spill something on the tape, clean it immediately. Don't leave it for later. Cleaning immediately will help prevent stains on the tape.

- If there are stains on the tape and you don't know what caused them, you can clean them with a normal stain remover.

- Always use a mild detergent to clean non-slip tapes. Using detergents that contain harsh chemicals such as ammonia and bleach can damage the tape. These toxic chemicals can also be harmful to your skin.

- When using detergent, don't be afraid to brush the surface of the tape lightly with a stiff bristle brush.
